Statement of Faith - Bethel Church Of God Bournemouth
In the verbal inspiration of the Bible, we affirm one God eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary. Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead, ascending to heaven where He is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor. We acknowledge that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and that repentance is commanded by God for all, being necessary for the forgiveness of sins. Justification, regeneration, and the new birth are achieved through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ. In sanctification, which follows the new birth and is empowered by the Holy Spirit baptism, we grow in faith through the Word and by the Holy Ghost. Holiness is God's standard of living for His people. We believe in the baptism with the Holy Ghost, evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, marking it as the initial evidence of the Holy Spirit baptism. Water baptism by immersion is also essential, with all who repent being baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement, alongside the Lord’s Supper and the washing of the saints’ feet. We hold to the Christian beliefs regarding the premillennial second coming of Jesus, which includes first resurrecting the righteous dead and gathering the living saints to Him in the air, and second, reigning on the earth for a thousand years.
